LNG carriers are still one of the most exciting shipping plays. They are at the intersection of AI, energy, and geopolitics.
The latter's role has become more tangible in recent years. Growing global chaos inevitably impacts supply chains. Adding to the mix of liquidity injections by PBOC and FED, we have the ingredients for a robust long-term LNG demand.
That said, being in the LNG shipping market for the next 18-24 months is a nice place to be. Considering the details, I am still a proponent of ice-class LNG carriers. They are one of the most controversial topics because they serve the North Seas route and the new Russian LNG terminal, Yamal and Artic 2.
This is the 2Q24 LNG market review. Today, I will discuss Japan's LNG supremacy, the importance of ice-class LNG, and LNG shipowners' 2Q24 results.
